Ultimate Yarra Valley Food & Wine Tour
Small group, 2–6 guests · Luxury Mercedes or Toyota van, for extra legroom · Guided by owner-operators who live and breathe this region
Just over an hour north-east of Melbourne, the Yarra Valley is home to more than 70 wine producers — from long-established family estates to small boutique cellar doors. Cool-climate Chardonnay, sparkling wine and Pinot Noir are the region's signature styles, and the Valley has led the shift toward leaner, more acid-driven Chardonnay, closer to Burgundy, as winemakers cut back on oak maturation time and the percentage of new oak used. Pinot Noir follows close behind — widely regarded as the hardest variety to get right, and the Valley produces some of the most elegant, complex examples made anywhere.
Your day:
- Pick-up 9:45–10am, timed to your City Hotel location.
- Chandon — a guided tasting at one of the Valley's founding sparkling houses, on the site of a former dairy farm dating back to 1986.
- Lunch at Soumah or Tokar Estate — including a wine tasting at the venue, so you can choose the glass that suits your lunch.
- Four Pillars Gin Distillery — your choice of a tasting paddle or a guided tasting, a change of pace to close out the day.
- Sightseeing — we pass Heritage Golf & Country Club, home to a resident mob of wild kangaroos.
- Return to your hotel by approximately 5pm.
We visit fewer stops than most tours — fewer venues, more time at each one, and a pace that leaves room for actual conversation with the people pouring your drinks.
Your guide is one of Epicurean's owner-operators — the same person who'll have answered your booking email.
